We made it to PATE!!!

WE MADE IT! Day 1 at PATE! We are so excited for Jared to get to this point, this means he needs more therapy, which mean he is ready for more therapy! A new chapter begins now for Jared, on this 90 acre ranch in Anna, Tx. The name of the street that he stays on his called Miracle lane, and that is exactly what we are claiming in Jesus' name!

We discharged on Monday morning from Baylor, it was a very emotional weekend for all parties involved. We had been at BIR for nearly 3 months, and they have become our family. Everyone treated Jared like family, tears were shed, pictures taken and prayers lifted. We are beyond grateful for our time there, it was a crucial point in Jared's journey! His therapists, nurses and techs were amazing with Jared, and he had so many victories at BIR thanks to them. I am hopeful that one day soon Jared will be back at BIR as a visitor, walking through those doors and telling our BIR family thank you for himself. So many blessings and miracles for Jared here! Just a few of the many faces that Jared had the pleasure of getting to know!

As most of you know, Jared had a seizure on Friday morning, so he was put on some different meds and he is still adjusting to that. Instead of discharging on Friday, his doctor wanted to keep him over the weekend just to be safe.

However, day 1 is in the books! Jared completed his first day at PATE in Anna, TX. Monday through Friday he will be doing about 6 hours of therapy a day. He will have 60 minute sessions of occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy, then a little break for lunch (tube feed), then he will go back through those again for a second time. Please keep Jared in your prayers as he puts his brain and body through the wringer in the days to come. We know he is strong and a fighter but this will be a big change going to twice as much therapy as he was receiving at BIR. We ask for prayers that his body adjust to the anti-seizure meds and that he will continue to move mountains in this next part of his journey. We are looking forward to Jared getting to socialize with other patients in his house, PATE is a brain injury and stroke rehab center, so he will be among other people are fighting a similar fight! Another exciting thing to mention that leaving Baylor and heading to PATE was a big deal because it was the first time since the accident that Jared was able to ride sitting up, in a wheelchair in a regular van! Every time he has needed to be transported somewhere he has had to go laying down on a stretcher via ambulance, so to see Jared sitting up and being able to look through a window was exciting and emotional!

Prayer Requests:

  • Continued progress and insurance coverage for Jared while at PATE

  • No more seizures for Jared

  • Jared's body adjusts to the new meds and he can continue to make progress

  • renovations on the house will be able to get done in time

  • Jared to find his voice and be able to speak

  • His right side continue to move and strengthen
