Blessings on blessings on blessings! Jared had a great week and weekend. Today he was surprised and blessed with many of his family members coming to visit him.
Today was also my older sister's birthday, and I just want to give a shout out to her on here because she is amazing and needs to know that Jared and I are forever grateful to her and would not have made it these past 8 months without her love and support. For those that don't know, after Jared's accident my mom and sister came up to Dallas indefinitely to support me, help me out with my household, helping with Jared just by being there with him in the hospital or wherever we were at, and by being the support system I needed. She was able to work remote during her time here, so without any hesitation she has been up here since. Although, her home, her life, her job and her friends are in Houston, she has been by Jared's side since day 1. No matter what facility he has been in, she would work remotely from his room. Now, most of the time had been just sitting bedside with him while his body and brain needed the time to heal. Her being here for him and me gave me so much peace of mind as we had some rough days in the different places Jared has been at. Jared and Krissy have such a special bond, she has witnessed ALL the miracles that have taken place with him and continues to be by his side everyday, it's just that now there is no more "bedside", as Jared is on the go, walking, scooting down the hallways, playing dominoes and catch with her, and so much more. And although her birthday may not have been an ideal one, on an exotic vacation, her servant heart is here with Jared. I hope and am pretty sure the day that Jared is talking will be more than enough of a birthday present for her! So I just want to thank her for being an amazing human and sharing her love, her faith and her friends with me and Jared. Jared is so blessed to have you as his sister-in-law! HBD to 500+ months of life!
Jared's eye surgery on Monday went well, they were able to remove the current goldweight, washout his eyelid and put in a new one. he is healing well and the swelling has subsided.
Jared did more walking this week, and he is starting to talk! I have not heard it myself, but several of the staff at BIR have gotten to experience a word or two from Mr. Jared. So we are excited to hear what is to come next. Today, I got to witness Jared mouthing along to one of his favorite songs from Moe, and I was in utter disbelief, but amazed and so giddy to see it. We are praying that that breakthrough be just around the corner for Jared.
My sister and I have been working everyday with Jared with sips of water and ice chips, and he's killing it, his swallow has gotten stronger, so hopefully his speech therapist will get a little more aggressive with Jared and him getting to try some foods. In occupational therapy they have been working more on Jared using his right arm and hand, in the last few days we have seen so many changes in Jareds right side. he is signaling with his right hand when we ask him questions, and he is lifting his right arm. He has been busy walking with physical therapy, using the hand rails on the wall, and using buddies on either side of him so he can focus on his legs, he is using the right leg more and more, and he is definitely headed in the right direction. One of my favorite things that's happening, is he is smiling more! SAY CHEESE!
