Ice Cream, Pudding and Applesauce

What do these 3 things have in common???

Jared is getting to eat ALL OF THEM!

What a week it has been! Thank you for all the prayers this week, as many of you know Jared had a swallow study on Monday. He did great, so this week his speech therapist has been working with Jared on his swallowing and he gets to choose between ice cream, pudding and applesauce. He still has a bit of a delayed swallow but he is working on it, and this is progress.

Another awesome thing I'm going to brag about, Jared walked 400ft this week in the LiteGait. Last week the most he had done was 100ft. He is still needing some assistance with his right leg, but in the meanwhile his left leg is getting stronger and taking bigger steps just as his physical therapist is working with him to do. His air cast boots should come off hopefully by Tuesday, and his custom AFOs (ankle foot orthoses) should be in. Then it will be back to sneakers for Jared and we are eager to see how the surgery will improve his standing and walking ability.

A lot has happened, he got his eyes checked today, due to all the trauma that happened to his face, especially the right side, there has been concern with his vision, so another thing BIR is addressing and we are working with different therapies to help those issues.

We are in awe everyday at the work that the Lord is doing inside and around Jared. As I have mentioned, God is all around Jared and in these amazing people that are crucial in his care. Blessings from everyone of them have been poured onto Jared. They share stories of God's work and the miracles they have seen at BIR and we cannot wait for Jared to be one of them! Everyday I get to see his care team encourage him and push him to get better and stronger; I get to have conversations about God's grace with the staff and my family and these things not only encourage Jared but also myself.

We are continuing to see blessings rain down over Jared and we continue to pray for progress!
