Happy Monday! Starting week 2 of rehab at BIR, and Jared is already showing great signs of progress. On Friday he had bilateral tenotomy surgery on his feet to help with the contracture, to better him at standing and walking. He has air casts on both legs for the next couple weeks, but he is able to weight bear immediately...and he is! Report from his Physical Therapist today, he was put into a LiteGait (a harness that can hover over the ground or a treadmill and can be adjusted to how much weight you actually use of your own and used to help stand or walk), and he was able to with assistance walk about ten feet, using both legs. His right leg needs a little extra help and stimulation to get moving but it is moving. I wish I had a picture or a video, but we are not allowed in on his therapy sessions, to enable that he is getting the most out of his time one on one with his therapist...plus we are a distraction to him. But hopefully soon I will get to have some of these amazing moments captured to share with you guys.
Today he had a surgery to help his right eye close better, since the accident and all the trauma that happened on that side of his face, he has had trouble closing it all the way. So, today he had a gold weight procedure done where it is placed in his upper eyelid to help it close completely.
We ask for continued prayers for focus while Jared is in therapy sessions, he gets distracted easily by his surroundings and we want him to get the most he can out of those sessions.
Praying for you both!
